Winter Warriors

Have you ever wondered which animals are hunted, trapped, and angled during the Canadian winter? This PA Day, we will delve into the fascinating world of winter wildlife. Join us as we explore the animals that anglers, hunters, and trappers pursue in the snowy months, and discover the strategies they use to overcome harsh winter conditions.

Adapt to Survive: Mammal Marvels

What do black bears, white-tailed deer and moose all have in common? They’re mammals! Join us for a fascinating day exploring the various adaptations of Ontario’s mammals. Through animal themed activities and games you’ll uncover how these creatures use their senses, strength, speed, and special adaptations to survive in the wild.

Spectacular Salmonids

With Trout opener just around the corner – join us for the day to discover more about the cold-water fish species that call our deep lakes and flowing streams home. From learning about aquatic food chains and how to tie your own fishing fly to exploring the incredible story behind the Lake Ontario Atlantic Salmon Restoration Program, you’re bound to learn something new.

Underwater Invaders

Recreational and commercial fishing in Ontario is under growing threat from invasive aquatic plants and animals. As the ice melts and the spring fishing season approaches, anglers and conservationists are gearing up with strategies to combat these looming risks. This PA Day, join us as we explore the impact invasive species are having on Ontario’s fisheries and showcase the proactive efforts the OFAH is taking to safeguard our waterways and protect the future of fishing in the province.

Testimonials

What Participants are Saying

“My favorite things are feeding the fish, making new friends and I love the archery! Air guns are also a favourite. And the scavenger hunts with my friends are fun too. In the winter I liked the survival lessons. I can’t wait to come back!”
Josie B.

Age 9

“As a parent, I am thankful that the OFAH is able to offer full-day educational programs for my kids on PA Days. Even though they’re not at school – I know they’re learning amazing things about conservation and the natural world. As an added bonus, the kids are exhausted by the time I pick them up. The PA Day Programs are fun for both my 7 year old as well as my 10 year old.”
Eileen C.

Parent

“Registering my son for the PA Day programs ahead of time is quick and easy, making drop off a breeze. With the extended child care times, I can get to work on time. The pricing is very reasonable too.”
