OFAH P.A. Day ProgramsSchool’s Out!
A day off school? Why not spend your PA Day at the Heritage Centre. Our themed, full-day programs are sure to meet a wide range of interests and skills. From team building and cooperative games to scavenger hunts, fishing the stocked pond and target practice on our Excalibur Archery Range and Stoeger Airgun Range, participants will have the chance to explore the centre, explore the great outdoors and try something new!
- $40 per participant.
- For youth ages 6 to 12 years old.
- Program runs 9am to 4pm each day with care available 8am to 5pm.
- Fully supervised by qualified OFAH staff and volunteers.
- Participants are asked to bring their own nut-free, litterless lunch and snacks, outdoor gear, indoor shoes and a reuseable water bottle.
Winter Warriors
Have you ever wondered which animals are hunted, trapped, and angled during the Canadian winter? This PA Day, we will delve into the fascinating world of winter wildlife. Join us as we explore the animals that anglers, hunters, and trappers pursue in the snowy months, and discover the strategies they use to overcome harsh winter conditions.
Adapt to Survive: Mammal Marvels
What do black bears, white-tailed deer and moose all have in common? They’re mammals! Join us for a fascinating day exploring the various adaptations of Ontario’s mammals. Through animal themed activities and games you’ll uncover how these creatures use their senses, strength, speed, and special adaptations to survive in the wild.
Spectacular Salmonids
With Trout opener just around the corner – join us for the day to discover more about the cold-water fish species that call our deep lakes and flowing streams home. From learning about aquatic food chains and how to tie your own fishing fly to exploring the incredible story behind the Lake Ontario Atlantic Salmon Restoration Program, you’re bound to learn something new.
Underwater Invaders
Recreational and commercial fishing in Ontario is under growing threat from invasive aquatic plants and animals. As the ice melts and the spring fishing season approaches, anglers and conservationists are gearing up with strategies to combat these looming risks. This PA Day, join us as we explore the impact invasive species are having on Ontario’s fisheries and showcase the proactive efforts the OFAH is taking to safeguard our waterways and protect the future of fishing in the province.
Outdoor Explorers
School’s out, and it’s the perfect time to embrace the great outdoors! With plants blooming, pollinators buzzing, and wildlife on the move, kick off your summer with an exciting PA Day celebrating Ontario’s amazing wildlife.

Our Facilities
We provide an environment for participants to try something new
Excalibur Archery Range
Located in the lower level of the Heritage Centre, our Excalibur Archery Range provides the opportunity for first time or amatuer shooters the chance to learn the responsibility of safe shooting.
All equipment and safety instruction is provided.
Shimano Fish Pond
The Shimano Fish Pond is a catch-and-release warm water pond right here at the Heritage Centre.
The Shimano Fish Pond is easily accessible by wheelchair and provides a memorable and exciting experience for OFAH P.A. Program participants.
Equipment is provided by the Heritage Centre.
Stoeger Airgun Range
Located in the lower level of the Heritage Centre, our Stoeger Airgun Range provides the opportunity for first time or amateur shooters the chance to learn the responsibility of safe shooting.
All equipment and safety instruction is provided.
Toronto Sportsmen's Show Ampitheatre
Come in, sit back and relax while learning about wildlife conservation in Ontario, Canada, and across the world in the HFHC’s immersive high definition amphitheatre!
